I have had ankle weights in the past. I'm a fan. Here's why these are so much better: 1. Material – These are made from neoprene. The fabric is comfortable against the skin, absorbs sweat, is washable, and wears well. I had one set of ankle weights that were vinyl – sweat caused rashes. 2. Straps – the straps are thick, have a strong hook/loop connection and are long. 3. Adjustability – This is my first time with ankle weights that can be weight adjusted. For me, I am starting with less weight and hopefully working up to 5lbs/ankle. Getting the one pound weight bags in and out is not the slickest operation, but not difficult either (see video). I ordered these weights because I work from home often and just want to get more out of each step during the work day. It's also fun to do leg extensions under my desk. It's not glamorous, just a really easy, cost effective way to get more out of what I'm already doing. ADDED BONUS – While doing prep hikes for long hike-in/hike-out treks, I have been filling my pack with sacks of water to try to approximate weight. These flexible ankle weights will now be the first ten pounds of pack weight for prep hikes.
