No, the 500X is XCHANGE-ready so there’s no need to use the XCHANGE plate. The XCHANGE plate is supplied with the system to convert other equipment with a 3/8″ thread to be XCHANGE-ready.
Can I use the head on other supports?
Yes, the 500X is a 60mm flat base XCHANGE-ready head with a standard 3/8 thread.
Which sliding plates are compatible with the head?
The 500X is supplied with the 501PL plate but it is also compatible with the following Manfrotto plates: 500PLONG,501PLONG,504PLONG series and 509PLONG.
